We hire slowly, and senior.
Lydgate is small on purpose. The expert network scales; the team building the platform and running the domain tracks does not need to. That means we open roles rarely and take them seriously when we do.
What we're most likely to open next
These aren't posted requisitions. They're the shapes we're actively thinking about — if one describes you, write now rather than waiting for a listing.
Environments engineer
Build the sandboxed runtime that executes graders and agent rollouts: containerised tool environments, deterministic replay, snapshot and restore, seed sweeps, flake detection. You care about reproducibility to an unusual degree and have opinions about why most RL environments are quietly non-deterministic.
Domain lead — finance
Own a domain track end to end: task design, grader specification, expert recruitment and calibration, and the quality bar. You've done the work yourself — banking, PE, credit or research — and you can tell the difference between a model that's correct and one that merely balances.
Expert network operations
Run the supply side as a professional relationship rather than a funnel: sourcing, credential verification, onboarding, calibration, and the rejection loop that keeps senior contributors engaged. Judgment about people, and a low tolerance for treating them as throughput.
What you'd be signing up for
The honest version, including the parts that won't suit everyone.
- Early
- We're a young company. The upside is scope and autonomy; the downside is that a lot is unbuilt and some of it will be built twice. If you need an established playbook, this will frustrate you.
- Remote
- Distributed and asynchronous by default, with written specs over meetings. We over-index on people who write clearly.
- Senior
- Small team, no layers, and no one to hand the ambiguous part to. Everyone here talks to experts and to customers.
- Applying
- Email support@lydgate.ai with something you've built or run and why this problem interests you. Skip the cover letter; send the work.
Nothing here fits, but you're interesting?
Write anyway. Small companies hire the person before they open the role more often than they admit.
